To everyone who helped out and left their fond wishes, thank you so much--I'd meant to thank everybody personally, but the sheer amounts of goodwill made that task a little daunting.

Apparently a friend of a RL friend is very sick, and requires multiple surgeries to live and function, surgeries which she can't afford. Megaupload has an incentive program, in which if a file is downloaded over 5 million times, they pay the sharer $10,000. This comes at virtually no cost to you except a few moments of your time (I've checked out the file and it is, indeed virus and malware-free, and is a .txt file so it literally takes seconds to download. The only downside is megadownload's dumb interface) and could very well save someone in need, please consider helping out. Thanks, guys.

here is her livejournal, which records download progress, and has entries detailing her condition. Some people have expressed their skepticism--and given the amount of internet scams and cons there are, I fully understand your concerns. After relaying the private messages asking for proof to her, she has informed me that she has decided not to provide any further evidence, as medical records are filled with very personal information that one does not want leaked publically, and any documentation can be challenged as "faked." This is the inturwebs, after all.

Please, help no more than the level you are comfortable with--having said that, I would personally appreciate it if people can find it in their hearts to contribute to the download count; at worst, you're out 30 seconds of your internet life, at best, we'd be helping to save and better somebody's life.

Also, a clarification, just so no one feels that I am muddying the waters by claiming a relationship that doesn't exist--I did not know or know of this individual before my RL friend alerted me to the situation through livejournal (hence friend of a friend), but I do wish her luck with all my heart now that I know of her unfortunate situation.

edit2) apparently MU has slot limits for each country which I assume varies by population. Malaysia and Taiwan seems to be congested, from what I'm hearing, and certain countries don't have access at all If you've tried and failed, thank you anyways, I'm touched just to know that people care and want to help--I've passed on everyone's good wishes to this woman through my friend's Livejournal. I hope it helps keeps her optimism afloat.
